Eighth Biennial Meeting of States on the Programme of Action on Small Arms and Light Weapons (BMS8)

The Eighth Biennial Meeting of States (BMS8) to Consider the Implementation of the Programme of Action to Prevent, Combat and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in All Its Aspects (PoA) was convened at the United Nations in New York City from 27 June to 1 July 2022.

BMS8 took place in the consecutive year of BMS7, as BMS7 was postponed for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. BMS8 took place in person as the United Nations Headquarters has reopened to representatives of civil society organisations (access to the United Nations headquarters remains contingent to compliance with COVID-19 related measures).

IANSA is the official coordinator of civil society participation in BMS8 2022.
