Regional Workshop: “Looking Back to Move Forward: Civil Society’s Efforts to combat Small Arms in Asia Pacific” (14 March 2025)

On Friday 14 March 2025, the International Action Network on Small Arms (IANSA) hosted an online training webinar titled: “Looking Back to Move Forward: Taking Stock of Asia-Pacific Civil Society Efforts to Address the Illicit Trade and Circulation of Small Arms and Light Weapons.” The webinar brought together IANSA network members, civil society organizations, international organizations, youth organizations, and the academia to:

  • Raise awareness of the implementation and latest developments of the UN Programme of Action on SALW (UN PoA) against emerging security issues in the region such as technology, the climate crisis, and gender-based violence;
  • Highlight Asia and the Pacific Member States’ UN PoA commitments, challenges, and areas where civil society engagement remains crucial;
  • Showcase success stories of and lessons learned from IANSA’s network partnerships, and research and advocacy on the UN PoA implementation;
  • Map out critical areas where civil society can collaborate and engage in national and regional UN PoA implementation.

We are grateful for the continued support of our participants and speakers!
