Violence Prevention Alliance

The VPA is a network of World Health Organisation (WHO) member states, international agencies and civil society organisations working to prevent violence.

VPA participants share an evidence-based public health approach that targets the risk factors leading to violence and promotes multi-sectoral cooperation.

The VPA (Jamaican Chapter) was launched in November 2004 at the University of the West Indies’ Medical Research Conference. The message was “Violence is Preventable” and its mandate, to build an alliance with all sectors of society that will create safe communities where children can grow up free from fear and violence.

Participants are committed to implement the recommendations of the World Report on Violence and Health.
