In 1999 Norma Cruz and her daughter, Claudia Maria (founders), faced an episode of violence and thus began a struggle in search of justice. From then on his psychology, his universe, his life, with a deep wound, was transformed.
They visited numerous institutions seeking to strengthen their complaint, achieve accompaniment, learn about procedures, courses of action, obtain support.
They faced a harrowing reality. Not all acts of violence against women were crimes. The sentences for the criminal offenses were minimal and these crimes were not relevant to the justice system. Gender stereotypes and patriarchal paradigms prevailed in justice operators. Violence against women was naturalized.
Faced with these conditions, at first, Norma and Claudia Maria experience an overwhelming sense of helplessness.
Currently, it has its own facilities where psychological care, criminal legal accompaniment services are provided, in cases of family, social work and shelter. In addition, advocacy actions are carried out to strengthen the justice system in alliance with international, regional and national cooperation entities, both governmental and non-governmental.
In 14 years (until July 2020), more than 28 thousand people have been assisted, 11 thousand 946 users received psychological attention, 4,771 women and 7,662 adolescents, girls and boys have been treated in the family legal area, 534 people sentenced for criminal offenses, 31,402 beneficiaries in violence prevention workshops, the refuge service has been provided to 1,612 people. These would be some figures that can be cited to list part of the work done.
