FOSDA’s goal to help in youth development, women empowerment, and peace and security. FOSDA started as a dream by a group of Africans in the UK in the late 80s to 90s. These Africans were from Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia, South African, and Kenya who were exiled for various reasons with the primary reason been political. In Ghana, the June 4th Coup and 31st December Revolution (disappointing after the AFRC promised the 3rd republic would mark the end to all coups in Ghana) led by late President Rawlings was staged following the economic breakdown, dissatisfaction in the military, injustice, and exodus of the people to Nigeria for greener pastures.
