The São Toméan Association of Women Lawyers was formed in November 2009. “ASMJ” is a non-profit association whose main objective is to defend the rights of women in São Toméan society.
In carrying out its activities, ASMJ inspires itself in the principles inscribed in the Sao Tome Political Constitution, in the United Nations Charter, enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and reaffirmed in the Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination against Women, as well as as in its Resolutions, Declarations, Conventions and Recommendations of the United Nations and its specialized institutions.
