IANSA’s 2025 Global Week of Action Against Gun Violence, held from 2–8 June under the theme “Protect the Future: Control Small Arms and their Ammunition for Global Safety.”, called for urgent and coordinated efforts to end armed violence and build safer, more just societies. The campaign emphasized the need for governments to move from promises to concrete action—strengthening arms control, preventing the illicit trade in small arms and light weapons and their ammunition, and investing in peacebuilding. It also underscored the essential role of civil society in driving forward national and global disarmament agendas.
Through the project “From the Bottom Up: Civil Society Engagement and Support for the UN Programme of Action on Small Arms and Light Weapons,” implemented with the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) and funded by the European Union, IANSA provided small grants to support grassroots initiatives during the Week of Action.
This report captures the energy and commitment of IANSA members worldwide who organized impactful activities—from high-level advocacy with officials and community leaders to public awareness campaigns and strong digital mobilization. These efforts reflect a united call to reduce gun violence and strengthen accountability in arms control.
We thank our network members for their tireless work and continued leadership in building a safer world!
