The United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) has published the Training Manual on Mainstreaming Gender in Small Arms Control within the framework of its global gender and small arms project.
The training manual contains the following units:
Unit 1: Planning and designing
Unit 2: Introduction to gender and small arms control
Unit 3: Data collection, surveys and gender analysis in small arms contexts
Unit 4: Small arms, masculinities and femininities
Unit 5: Preventing arms-related gender-based violence
Unit 6: Inclusive small arms control: ensuring the full and equal participation of women
Unit 7: Small arms control policies
Unit 8: Operational small arms control
Unit 9: Community-centred approaches
Unit 10: Measuring impact and progress: Gender-responsive monitoring, evaluation, reporting and learning
This course presents “the linkages between gender and small arms and light weapons (SALW); raises awareness of gender issues among SALW practitioners at every level; builds buy-in regarding how gender awareness makes their work more effective; and demonstrates why and how to prevent armed gender-based violence through gender-responsive small arms control measures.” Access the online training course here.
