The objective of IELSUR consists of the development of legal actions, approached from the perspective of people or groups that have violated their human rights, to achieve the full validity of these.
IELSUR is a non-governmental organization, with legal status, non-profit, constituted with the purpose of defending Human Rights applying national and international legal instruments, and their study and promotion in an interdisciplinary way, in order to obtain their full validity.
It was created in July 1984, as an initiative of a group of lawyers who sought to provide answers from the legal and litigation perspective, to the Human Rights violations that occurred during the period of the de facto government. With the advent of democracy, and with the detection of new realities, IELSUR broadens and deepens its institutional practice. In this way, the profile of IELSUR was affirming itself more and more clearly in the group of NGOs, providing its legal specificity.
We understand by human rights, a comprehensive, complete life system that covers the individual, the collective, the political, the economic, the cultural and the social. All of them are worth the same, are independent and cannot be conceived without each other.
