ECPAT Guatemala executes different projects, each of which seeks to contribute to the eradication of violence against children, adolescents and youth, especially those that put their physical, emotional and psychological integrity at risk, and place them at risk of commercial sexual exploitation. and human trafficking.
To do this, it bases its actions on:
- Research, studies and diagnoses on the subject of trafficking and
- Commercial sexual exploitation of children and adolescents -ESC NNA- at the national and regional level.
Sensitization and information to vulnerable populations, especially boys, girls and adolescents through campaigns and the design and socialization of materials for the prevention of human trafficking. - Preparation of curricula for training of personnel of institutions of the protection system for the areas of investigation, attention, prevention, protection and criminal prosecution.
- Preparation of procedure manuals for the National Civil Police, the Public Ministry, the Judicial Branch and the Migration Office.
- Implementation of training processes for the National Police, the Public Ministry, the Judicial Branch, the Migration Office, the Attorney General’s Office, the Secretary of Social Welfare and the Guatemalan Tourism Institute.
- Participation in the processes of preparation, consensus, presentation and lobbying, of law initiatives, public policies, protocols, guidelines for inter-institutional coordination related to the subject.
- Coordination and technical support to 3 local inter-institutional networks in municipalities located in border areas, to combat human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation.
- Incidence for the establishment and execution of bilateral agreements on human trafficking.
- Support for comprehensive care for victims and people at risk in coordination with the Casa del Migrante on the border with Mexico.
- Design and preparation of ESCNNA Prevention and Attention Protocols Legal and legal assistance to victims for the criminal prosecution of crimes related to human trafficking.
