Fundación Centro de Estudios para la Paz (CEPPA)
The CEPPA Foundation, Center for Peace Studies, was started in 1988 and facilitated its first workshops in 1990. Its headquarters are in San José, Costa Rica and arose as a concern of Celina García, to contribute to creating a culture of peace. Celina served as Executive Secretary of the PEC (Peace Education Commission, International Peace Research Association), that is, the Peace Education Commission of the International Peace Research Association. Previously, she was also Program Coordinator for the Youth Board Research Institute, New York City.
The CEPPA Foundation is a subsidiary of the Creative Conflict Response Program in Nyack, New York and the PAV (Alternative to Violence Program) , whose international headquarters are in Canada. Both programs are of Quaker origin without any religious, ethnic or sectarian ties. CEPPA staff were trained in 1990 by Priscilla Prutzman and Martha Moss, facilitators of these programs.
