UNPoA Second Review Conference
The Second Review Conference of the UN Programme of Action (PoA) to Prevent, Combat and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in All Its Aspects, is due to run from 27th August to 7th September at UN Headquarters in New York.
More than a decade has passed since the adoption of the PoA in 2001, which has laid the foundation for action at the national, regional and global levels.
The Second Review Conference will offer the opportunity to review the progress made in the implementation of the PoA, including the separately agreed International Tracing Instrument (ITI) (2005).
IANSA's Members will, as ever, be playing a vital role at the conference, by enaging closely with Member States and delievering a strong and united voice for civil society, calling for States to implement all provisions of the PoA.
The IANSA secretariat has produced a short advocacy document of key Talking Points. For those Members and Supporters not in New York, supporting the cause from home, we invite you to use the document below to encourage capitals and national authorities to engage in thoughtful and effective review of the PoA.
