Cameroon: People's consultation on the Kinshasa Convention during the Week of Action 2011

Women in Alternative Action, an IANSA member in Cameroon, marked the 10 year anniversary of the UN Programme of Action on small arms (PoA) with a people’s consultation on the Central African Convention on Small Arms, also known as the Kinshasa Convention. Participants included 20 wives of traditional leaders from the Littoral region. The meeting concluded with a set of recommendations, including that the government of Cameroon ratifies the Kinshasa Convention to curb the proliferation of small arms in the Central African Region, and prevent violence against civilians and especially violence against women.
