IANSA welcomes our new UN Liaison Officer, Rose Welsch. She takes over from Michele Poliacof, whom we thank for her years of dedicated service, and for agreeing to continue sharing her wisdom and advice with us. Rose will be responsible for coordinating civil society participation in the Sixth Biennial Meeting of States on Small Arms (BMS6), to be held at UN Headquarters in New York 6-10 June 2016.
'No women, no peace' is a creative competition launched by Gender Action for Peace and Security (GAPS UK), an expert working group of peace and development NGOs, academics and grassroots peace builders which includes the IANSA Women's Network.
On 1 August the Convention on Cluster Munitions entered into force. “This highlights... the power of collaboration among Governments, civil society and the United Nations to change attitudes and policies” said UN Secretary-General Ban-ki Moon.
